Installation Process

This page outlines exactly how a Gate Keeper installation works, from first contact to final handover. Clear steps, clear timelines, no surprises.

Overview

A standard Gate Keeper installation is designed to be fast, non-invasive, and compatible with existing gate motors. Most installations are completed in a single visit.

  • No replacement of existing gate motors
  • No rewiring of safety systems
  • No internet required for operation

Step 1: Initial Enquiry & Assessment

Once you contact us, we gather basic information about your gate system to confirm compatibility.

  • Type of gate motor
  • Existing access methods (remotes, keypads, etc.)
  • Preferred Gate Keeper access solution

Timeline: Same day or next business day

Step 2: Quotation & Scheduling

Based on the assessment, a quotation is provided covering hardware, installation, and configuration.

Once approved, an installation date is scheduled at a time that suits you.

Timeline: 1–2 business days after assessment

Step 3: On-Site Installation

On installation day, the Gate Keeper controller is installed inside the gate motor housing and connected using standard trigger terminals.

  • Controller mounted securely
  • Power connected from gate motor auxiliary output
  • Relay connected to gate trigger input
  • Access hardware mounted (RFID reader, keypad, or call unit)

Timeline: ±60–90 minutes

Step 4: Configuration & Testing

After installation, the system is configured according to your selected access solution.

  • RFID cards or tags enrolled
  • Phone numbers registered (if applicable)
  • Keypad codes generated and tested
  • Gate operation and safety systems verified

Timeline: ±30 minutes

Step 5: Handover & Training

Before completion, we walk you through how the system works and how to manage access going forward.

  • How to add or remove users
  • What to do if access credentials are lost
  • Basic troubleshooting guidance

Timeline: ±15 minutes
